Pestilence and Diseases Shall Increase

One of the signs that Christ is coming back so soon is that pestilence and diseases shall increase. If you notice in the last few decades, many fatal epidemic diseases have killed millions of people as viruses mutate into stronger varieties that are more resistant to treatment. And if you will recall, only late last year, we had an AH1N1 pandemic. AHIN1 is a variety of a simple flu, but stronger and very fatal. Many diseases were discovered only in the 20th century like AIDS, Hepatitis, Ebola, Mad’s Cow, and Cancer. Now, the varieties of cancer are also increasing. Some of the most common cancers I know include Cancer of the Bone or Leukemia, Breast Cancer, Brain Cancer and Lung Cancer. Lung cancer can be further classified based on its cause. One form of lung cancer is called Asbestos cancer which is caused by extreme exposure to asbestos for a long period of time*. Asbestos cancer is also called as Mesothelioma.

Well, why I’m telling you this? First, is to remind you that Jesus Christ is coming so soon. The question is, are you ready to face Him? Secondly, for you to be aware that the increase in diseases was prophesied in the Bible thousand and years ago. So we shouldn’t be surprised if tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, a new disease will be discovered.  It was already written in the Word of God and it will surely happen. The key is preparation.

Daughter Learns To Pray

Last night, while I was preparing the dirty clothes to be washed today, I heard my daughter asked her dad for a banana. The next thing I heard was Sciezka uttered “Yord (her version of Lord), thank you por nanas. In (J)esus name, Amen!”. Her action brought joy to me and to husband. She’s learning and learning good things.

It didn’t happen overnight. We always say a prayer of thanks before she drinks her milk since she was a baby. We also pray in her behalf whenever she eats her meal. And when she started imitating words, we started to guide her how to pray. She started with “Yord, thank you por mik (milk). In (J)esus nem, Amen!” She says the same prayer even if she’s about to eat her meal. For me that’s fine for a start. Then she starts saying “Yord, thank you por food – still general but at least she’s improving. Before she utter her prayer, she always needs to be reminded. There were also time that she just didn’t want to pray. I would gently remind her that we always need to thank God for the things that He is giving us. Last night was the first time she said her prayer on her own initiative. I earnestly hope that she will continue to thank God for everything that she will receive, whether small or great, good or not-so good because the Bible says, “In every thing give thanks” (I Thessalonians 5:18).

Post-Christmas Post

Two more days and the world will be celebrating Christmas. Two days ago, the world celebrated Christmas. I remembered that when this season comes, we usually review the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ (Did I not mention that I grew up in Sunday School?) in our Sunday School classes. And when I became a Sunday School teacher too, I taught the same topic whenever the month of December comes. Why? Because this is the best time to remember how Christ was born and for what purpose :)

Let me share with you two things about the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ. And I sincerely hope that this post bring some enlightenment to all of us.

THE DATE OF THE BIRTH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST
In the Bible, the exact date of Christ’s birth was not stated. You may want to check Matthew 1:18-25, Luke 2: 1-16 – These are the references in the Bible where you can read about the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ. And probably, Christ was not born on a December, much more on a December 25. Because Luke 2:8 says “And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.”(KJV) During December, Jerusalem’s temperature does not even reach 200C. Would the shepherds bring their flocks out in the field in that temperature? Would it not be much appropriate to bring the flock in the field if the weather is warmer even in the night and not during the cold season?

How come the Bible did not record the date of Christ’s birth? The birth date of the most important being in the whole world? Was it just accidentally forgotten? Definitely, the answer is NO. It was not recorded intentionally. Why? Because the date is immaterial and what is important is the fact that Christ was born to save the lost sinners like me. He do not want His birth date to be remembered or celebrated but the world is persistent. They created a date for His birth. The Lord Jesus Christ knew that when the date of His birth is published, the focus of the people will be on the date and the occasion and not on the purpose of His coming. And if you haven’t realized yet that Christ birth and death is for you, for us – to save us from eternal damnation, then His birth and death is in vain in your life.

THE THREE KINGS
THREE KINGS is no where to be found in the Bible, moreover, the names Melchor, Gaspar and Balthasar. You can only find wise men, no names and no specific number. Yes, there are three kinds of gifts given – Gold, Frankincense, Myrrh – but it was only an assumption that each kind of gift came from a single person. There is no account in the Bible that it was so. Isn’t the same kind of gift can be given by different people? How many photo frames you received this holiday? Were they given by the same person? Definitely not, right? The wise men maybe three, or maybe six or hundreds. No one knows because the number is not important. The important thing is gifts are given to the Lord of Lords and King of Kings to honor and glorify Him. The wise men didn’t exchange gifts to themselves. There was only one recipient of the gifts and that is the Lord Jesus Christ.

This scene is very far from what we practice today, we do not give the gifts to the “birthday celebrant/celebrator” instead we exchange gifts within ourselves. True? Sad, but this is true. This is how the world (the Enemy) deviate our focus from our Savior to ourselves. We merry(Is this the reason why we greet Merry Christmas) by attending parties, eating sumptuous food, exchanging gifts and buying gifts for ourselves. But how about our the Lord Jesus Christ, what is the present we bought for Him? Did we remember to thank Him for coming to this sinful world to save us? Do you know that He offers the best gift for us? An everlasting life. We only need to accept it :)

The birth of Christ is as important as His death. If one is missing, no one has a chance to be in paradise someday.

To end this post, let me leave you a very familiar verse. John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

God’s Promise Concerning Flood

My husband and I were two of those who prayed that Typhoon Pepeng would not add more damages to our devastated kababayans (fellow country men) last weekend. We also prayed for brethren who might be in the the area where Typhoon Pepeng will most likely hit. And I am quite sure that we are not alone. Many other did the same thing. Probably, even non-Filipinos prayed with us for our country.

We were thankful that the typhoon spared Metro Manila but we were pained to see our fellow Filipinos in the North suffered the anger of Typhoon Pepeng. As of the weather update earlier this evening, Typhoon Pepeng haven’t leave yet the Philippine area of responsibility and yet another typhoon is coming in.

More and more typhoons will be coming in the future. The intensity might be stronger and the hit might be more frequent. We will be bracing more floods and all other effects of storms. And not only Philippines will experience it. Will the earth be erased because of flood?

It is being reported over the news that the ice in the north and south pole had started to melt and bodies of water had started to eat up more lands. Will this phenomenon washed the earth?

The first great flood happened long time ago when only eight people survived, Noah, his wife, his sons, Sham, Japheth and Ham, and his sons’ three wives and the beast that were with them in the ark.

Genesis 7:22-23 says

All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died.
And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark.

But this will no longer be God’s way to destroy the earth. God made a promise to Noah that He will no longer destroy the earth through a flood.

Genesis 9:11 says

“And I will establish my covenant with you, neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.”

And the proof of this promise is the rainbow :) .

Genesis 9:12-17 says

And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:
I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.
And it shall come to pass, when I bring a cloud over the earth, that the bow shall be seen in the cloud:
And I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh; and the waters shall no more become a flood to destroy all flesh.
And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth.
And God said unto Noah, This is the token of the covenant, which I have established between me and all flesh that is upon the earth.

So rest assured that no matter how strong he storm or rain is, it is not yet the end of the world. The world will be purified not by water but by fire.
