My daughter is getting accustomed to traveling by plane. She now awaits for the selling time of snacks during the flight. She no longer struggles to be out from the seat belt until the sign for seat belt is off. Most of all, she no longer complaint about her ear when the plane is taking off.

She entertains herself by looking on the pages of the in-flight magazine and the beautiful clouds formation. She also asks questions from time to time specially if she saw any unfamiliar thing. One time she asked me what was on the hand of one of the passengers who was listening from her 8gb ipod nano. Then she asked me why a woman was covered from head to toe, why a group of blind men/women were singing on the airport and why were the people giving them money. She has so many questions and sometimes I also have a hard time explaining things to her.

I am glad that boarding on a plane is not new to her. And though we encounter not-so-familiar things to from time to time, I am glad that she never fears boarding a plane.

My husband is so in love with the sea. He really loves swimming and snorkeling. One day he went home from the downtown with a big grin in his face and showed to me what he bought from the sale store. He has three set of goggles in different colors: black, pink and violet. Needless to say he bought three goggles for himself, me and my daughter. Then he asked me to guess the price of the goggles. I started with Php 100 since he told me that he bought them from the sale store. I was surprised when he squealed to me the price. He told me that the he grabbed the goggles sale and the three goggles only cost him Php 30. Until now, he is still using the ten-peso goggle that he bought for himself

The sky was so clear and bright unlike the previous days that it was gloomy. My husband and daughter were not able to swim because first we were not prepared. Second, it was already late and third, it was low tide. Daddy promised my daughter that we would be back there for a swim. Daughter was contented tugging the goat while nibbling the grass. I was so excited capturing the sky that I forgot to take my daughter’s photo while playing with the goats

We arrived here in North Cotabato, Kidapawan city yesterday morning. Unfortunately, none in the internet plug-ins I have work at home. Both Globe and SmartBro plug-ins don’t provide reliable and decent speed at home.
My SIL brought me here. She worked in a nearby elementary school. One thing I noticed as we walked here were the UK stores (ukay-ukay). Ukay-ukays have reached this far If I’m not only in hurry, I wanted to stop by and checked if there were girls shorts for me and my daughter. I’m also interested to find nice yet cheap skirts for Sunday. I would need additional skirts when we moved to BOHOL because most of my skirts no longer fit me. Based on my experience, UKs have branded stylish and almost new skirts. SIL promised that we will visit the largest line of UK stores here on Saturday. That makes me excited for Saturday

I decided to take an emergency leave yesterday to visit my father in Bulacan. He’s been suffering with LBM since last weak. The medicine prescribed by his doctor didn’t improve his condition. And because his LBM is quite long already, he started to lose his appetite. I am worried about his condition because he might get dehydrated.

Before that, I called up my mother last Thursday night to confirm if she would be coming over the next day to get their allowance and my father’s insulin. That was the only time I knew that the medicine given to my father didn’t stop my father’s LBM. All the while, I thought my father was already fine because I don’t receive any text from them. But my assumption was all wrong. My mother told me that my father was the one who didn’t want to bother me about his condition. But my mother was also worried because my father started to refuse eating. According to her, my father told him that just don’t bother about him. He would eat if he wants to eat. On his condition, that wouldn’t do him any good. My mother perceived that my father is already giving up because he don’t want to be a burden to me financially. Upon hearing that, my tears just fell. I told my mother that Tatay should not think that way. I am trying my best to stretch out my means to support them and to provide for his medicine. It is too early to give up.

I told my mom to bring my father with her the next day so we could bring him to a doctor. But my father don’t want to go with her. So I just asked our landlady what could I give to my father for his LBM. Our kind landlady prescribed an antibiotic and good bacteria for my dad. According to her, lost of appetite is normal for long period of diarrhea. The good bacteria will help to fight the bad bacteria.

After buying the medicines and the insulin and after my daughter’s class, we headed to Bulacan. Husband and daughter came with me because my daughter has been requesting to go there for weeks now.

If you are a frequent visitor of this blog, you may have probably read my post about my father getting sick. Well, I thank God because he is doing better. The wound on his head are healed. There is only one bump remaining which is still recuperating. His blood sugar level went down to 80 mg/dL. That is already the normal blood sugar level. But the more important thing is too maintain his blood sugar level within the normal range which is 80 to 100 mg/dL before meal and 100 to 140 mg/dL two hours after meal. Aside from Glucovance which he takes before meal, he is also injecting 22 units of insulin everyday. The insulin is only for one month. It was only given to him to stabilize his blood sugar level and to speed up the healing process of his wounds. According to the doctor, the antibiotics will have no effect if the blood sugar level is high. Aside from his blood sugar level, we also need to monitor his blood pressure. His blood pressure is high at 140/100. He is taking medicines to lower down his blood pressure. He is also taking medicines to prevent stroke and lower down his cholesterol.

Our next visit to the doctor is on July 16. The doctor will change the medicines my father are currently taking depending on the effect of the medicines to him. Check-ups and medicines means money. I am praying for God’s provision for my father’s medicines. I am also thinking of ways to earn the money we need for July 16. When I shared my problem to my officemate, she suggested that I inquire our HR if I can avail a cash advance or if there is anything I can convert to cash, like vacation leaves, to raise the money I need for my father’s medications. With my previous purchases, I used my credit card to buy the prescribed medicines. But I am afraid to use it often because the high interest could drown me to death since I couldn’t pay the entire balance every month. Cash advance or salary deduction would be a better option but I don’t know if this benefit is existing in our company since we are just a very small organization.

Yes, I am financially broke. But I still thank God because only my pocket is hurting. God is still good to me in so many ways and He deserves my sincere gratitude and highest honor and praise.

If I am as rich as Ms. Kris Aquino – Yap or Ms. Sharon Cuneta – Pangilinan who can afford to buy their own RV (recreational vehicle), I would not have a second thought to take the squeezed-day a day-off. I’ll use my very long weekend to travel by land and visit some places on the North with my husband and precious daughter. My daughter will surely love it and enjoy the ride because she’ll be comfortable inside the RV. I can also sleep while hubby is driving to our next destination. What a dream?!! We can’t even afford a second-hand car, LOL!

Owning an RV is very expensive, both here in the Philippines and in other countries. The cost of an RV is already a wealth to an ordinary employee like me. Because of its price, it is wise that those who invest on this kind of vehicle should also acquire a motorhome insurance rather than just an ordinary auto-insurance. The coverage of a motorhome insurance is particularly designed for RVers, hence a more comprehensive protection not only for the vehicle but also for its contents.

First Visit
This morning was our (my father, mother and I) third visit to a Diabetologist (I don’t know if it is proper to squeal her identity so I will not name her). The Diabetologist was referred to me by my landlady. Our first meeting with her was last Wednesday. She read and copied the results of my father’s laboratory exam. She told us that my father’s infection was quite alarming because it was record shows that the WBC and segments were high. This means that the wounds on my father’s head were not simple wounds. The wounds could not be treated with just mild soaps and shampoo like the recommendation of the doctor in the previous hospital where we first went. As a matter of fact, the initial recommendation of the Diabetologist was to have my father get admitted in a hospital. But she changed her mind. She told us the instead of spending the money in a hospital, let us just use it for branded medicines. She’s confident that with better antibiotics, the infection will subside. She also replaced the medicine for controlling my father’s blood sugar with Glucovance, and instead of twice a day, she made it thrice. My father would take it before every meal time. She also put my father in basal insulin for one month because according to her, the antibiotic will not take effect if the blood sugar is uncontrolled. For the antibiotic, she prescribed Clindamicine, 4x/day (every 6 hours), for 7 days. Clindamicine is 73+ each. The Diabetologist gave a 40% discount card for this medicine which was really a big help. The basal insulin, Lantus, she used with my father cost Php 650 which can be used for 13 days. Lantus waas cheaper by Php 175 in their clinic (Neo Medica) compared with Mercury Drugstore. She asked us to return last Friday. If the infection did not subside, we have no choice but to let my father get admitted.

Second Visit
We returned last Friday. Unfortunately, the WBC counts and segment did not improve. Meaning, the infection was not subsiding. Though, his blood sugar was improving. From 300 plus, it lowered to 200 plus. Not bad for two days medication. But the problem with the infection remains. She asked where will I get my father admitted. I told her that probably in QC General because that is the most accessible hospital in our place. But I was also considering UST because Doc Broks, already replied to my email and was willing to help. The Diabetologist was having second thought. She asked her secretary if the surgeon was coming. She wanted the pus in the wounds be taken out. When she learned that the surgeon only came if there was an appointment, she decided that she wound be the one to take out the pus. She told my father that it would be painful. She wouldn’t use anesthesia because it will be useless. She told us that we only need to pay the Operating Room’s Fee which was 1.5K. I already agreed because that amount was cheaper than the expense if my father would be admitted. When she went out the room to inform the staff to prepare the OR, my father burst into tears. The doctor heard him and told him that she can’t do the procedure if he was not prepared because it would really be painful. The doctor thought that my father cried because of the pain. While I thought, he preferred to get admitted. Then he told me that he was already ashamed to me because of my expenditures for his medications. I assured him that I could still handle the expenses. I didn’t tell him that I borrowed some money from my friends. I don’t think it was necessary to for him to know that. Besides, I am sure that he will refuse to continue his medication and checkups if he learned that I just borrowed the money for him.

The procedure proceeded. The Diabetologist extended the antibiotic for 10 days. She added an ointment for the wound and Postan FR for pain killers. She gave another 30% discount card for the Postan FR. I purchased all the medicine using my credit card Well, I have no choice. The cash that I have that time was only sufficient for the OR and doctor’s consultation fee and my parents’ one week allowance.

Third Visit
Since last Friday, I called up my mother almost everyday to check on my father’s condition. And every time I heard that my father’s condition was getting better, I thank God. He truly answers prayers.

This morning, most of the wounds were already healed. There was one remaining bump which according to the doctor will eventually subside. The antibiotic was extended to 14 days. I bought another Lantus Insulin Pen and medicines good for 15 days. The doctor also added medicine for heart and high blood. Because his blood pressure was not improving. His blood sugar this morning was only 90. He already reached the ideal blood sugar before meal time. But still the insulin will continue so that the sugar level will be controlled until the last bump gets healed. We will see the doctor month after, that will be on July 16.

I am hoping and praying that my father will be completely healed. I don’t mind if right now I am buried with debts. I am confident that by God’s grace, He will let me pay all those debts. For He is my great provider and He always makes a way for me. I don’t count the lost, rather, I count my blessings and I name them one by one.

As soon as we reached home last Friday, I requested hubby to run to the nearest drug store, not to buy a muscle building supplement, but to buy the the prescribed medicines for my father. Hubby has no plan to maintain one anyway, at least in the near future. I considered it a blessing that the prescribed medicines were not expensive. But still, we were only able to buy a week’s supply.

I’ll be picking up the laboratory results tomorrow. I’m having second thoughts if we will go back to East Avenue Medical Center. If I can only find an internal med doctor near my parents’ place, that would be better. I’m praying that God will lead us to a credible and kind doctor.
