Today is Bohol Day hence all public and private offices here in Bohol are in holiday including my daughter’s school. The school informed me last Thursday that my daughter has no class today. And because it happens that the holiday falls on a Friday which is my daughter’s schedule to watch TV, my daughter had a great time watching her favorite cartoon videos, Dora the Explorer. But only before she took her afternoon nap because our 22″ LCD Devant TV broke down again . So instead of her watching TV, she keeps on interrupting me with my work. Well I can’t blame her because she knows that today is supposed to be her free day!

We can now smell the fast approaching Yuletide Season and the coming New Year. The Ber months have already started and many of us have also started making plans for the said holidays. Some may have started buying gifts for their love ones, some may have made bookings for their vacations, and some, the uber excited ones, may have started decorating their homes with Christmas decor. But wait, before these season comes, there is yet another holiday that is being celebrated all-over the world, that is the All Souls/Saints Day (how I wish I could find the research article why real Christians should not join the majority in celebrating this event).

During November 1, many people organized costume parties, sometimes even companies. I remember when I was still with my previous company, a contest was usually held for the best decorated department. The price for the winning department was of real worth that was why all departments were really eager to win. Aside from the decoration, the department staff should have prepared their presentation/gimmick which would be presented on the day of judging (usually held on October 31). The day of judging was also declared as the Family Day. The immediate families of all employees were invited to come to the office. The kids were in costumes while visiting all the managers for their treats. There were also some foods prepared for the visiting families.

Just outside the building, there were many other people in costumes, some were wholesome and funny, some were scary and some were daring in their sexy adult costumes. Hmmm… me? I was in hurry to go home, to avoid the bulk of people who would be going home too later that night.

I mentioned on this post that May 1 is usually a holiday if it falls on a weekday. In this year’s case, May 1 is Saturday so I don’t expect to have an extra day off for this holiday. But because of the generosity of the government with holidays and the current holiday economic policy, the celebration of Labor Day is moved to May 3, 2010, Monday next week. This means that Monday will be a non-working holiday! Another long weekend coming!!! Hurray for laborers like me!

Just like last year, we decided to spend our New Year’s Eve on my parents’ place. I started wrapping up my work when the clock ticked 12. Yes, I was still working on that day because of some deadlines which can’t be moved. I started packing up for a night stay in my parents house. We can’t stay longer because I promised my client that I would try my best to be online after the New Year holiday. After packing up, I hurriedly looked for a comfortable clothes for my daughter when she handed me her preferred blouse. Just to save energy, I wore her the blouse and partnered it with a short and let her went outside while I changed my clothes. When I was finally done, my daughter’s fingers were all colored and the brat was even proud to show off her fingers to me. Before we finally locked the door, my daughter asked for her handbag. I was surprised with her look! She looked like a little frustrated sosyalera!

The pictures were taken without her knowledge. Her shyness to face any kind of camera is getting worst!

Yes! You read it right Our project group were given two days paid day-off, Thursday and Friday. Our US-based client is so generous to give this rest days with pay. And in case you forgot, Monday is a national holiday. Meaning, I will have a very long weekend. Unfortunately, we can’t afford to have a vacation nowadays. Our budget is so tight. I will be using the day-offs to see an OB for some checkup and also request a schedule for pap smear. I also need to visit the mall to buy my daughter the things that she will be needing on Monday. OH I forgot to mention that my daughter was requested to be part of my churchmate’s wedding entourage as a flower girl. I don’t know yet if I will buy her a new pair of shoes because she might not like it and won’t wear at all! But if ever we have an extra budget, I will bring her to the mall to let her choose the shoes she likes to make sure that the shoes will not just be another display on our shoe rack.

My husband will be throwing-out a dinner to some of his closest Pastors tomorrow night to express his gratitude for their prayers for the result of the LET. Instead of a dinner-out (which is more expensive), he convinced them to have the dinner here at home. As if we can cook well and our house is big! Nyahhaha! Anyways, he decided to serve only the dishes which are very easy to prepare. Among the dishes he listed include kinilaw na tuna with grilled liempo, sinigang na hipon and grilled bangus. One of the pastors requested for fruit salad for dessert. I think the dishes are good enough for four men And I hope they will like the food

That all for now folks! Need to get some sleep! Just finished my tasks for my full-time job. See you!

Sad to know that November 27 and November 28 will no longer be a National Holiday. The said holidays will only be observed in the Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao.

Last month, Malacañang declared that November 27 and November 28 will be a National Holiday in observance of Eid’l Adha, a Muslim festival. But Malacañang changed the scope of the said holiday because of the appeal of the manufacturing sector. Well, I understand them. With so many holidays, their production is directly affected. Malacañang already apologize for the sudden change.
