No Classes Today, Wednesday, July 14, 2010

I was trying to find out if my daughter will have a class tomorrow since the classes in pre-schools and elementary were suspended before noon time yesterday, July 13, 2010.  Metro Manila was placed under signal number yesterday morning this morning, so automatically the classes on primary level were suspended.

It is a blessing that before I sleep I am able to confirm that my daughter can wake up late later. According to ABS-CBN news, DepEd already suspended the classes in the preschool, elementary, and high school levels in Metro Manila on Wednesday. We were not informed because we don’t usually watch the TV. And now, we no longer have electricity. Thanks to my UPS I can still post this article.

Nice Teeth

When my daughter and husband returned from Jollibee last night, there were already couples sitting beside me. When they noticed my daughter, the woman asked my daughter’s age. I told her that she’s almost three. My daughter will turn three this coming may. She asked me my daughter’s milk. Enfagrow, I answered. I added that my daughter was breast fed until ten months. She told me that her daughter is drinking the same milk. She commented that it is good that my daughter’s teeth are still complete and are still in good shape. Because her daughter’s were already damaged. This caused why her daughter stopped drinking her milk from the bottle. They only pour the milk on her daughter’s mouth so her daughter can drink her milk. Her daughter’s damaged teeth is also the reason why daughter’s the consumption of milk tremendously decreased.

She shared with me that her daughter’s teeth started coming out when she was already pass one. Her daughter is only 2 years and 3 month old and all the teeth are already damaged. She added that before, her daughter loves to drink milk. But the problem is, even when her daughter is already sleeping, her bottle is still inside her mouth. She added that is probably the reason why her daughter’s teeth were damaged. Her daughter is also exposed to sweets early which added to the culprit.

Well, I am happy that my daughter’s teeth are still ok. Even the dentist confirms that. I just hope that it will still be the same until she grows up.

Does you child  has a nice teeth too?

WFW – 2 Chronicles 7:14

Word Filled Wednesday

Word Filled Wednesday

The purpose of Word filled Wednesday is to share God’s word through photo’s & a verse!

IIChronicles 7: 14

This verse was emphasized last Sunday, during our morning worship service. The message was about healing. God, who is the greatest healer, is not only capable to heal our physical infirmities. He is also the healer of our broken spirit. He heals our empty pockets too and most importantly, He is able to heal our land, the source of our food, one of our basic necessities.

I find the message very timely especially the last part, healing the land. Here in the Philippines, we are currently experiencing El Niño, which causes severe drought on many provinces. Vast agricultural lands are affected.  Some farmers harvest their crops even before the harvest time because their  plants just get dried up.  Irrigation and water dams are drying up as well.  If the drought continues due to lack or minimal rain fall, the bigger effect is food shortage.

Can any human being solved this climate phenomenon? I doubt! Only God has power over nature only Him can make the rain fall and stop. So if only God can control the weather, what can we do as human beings? The Bible gives an instruction on what to do to solve this problem. The solution is found in II Chronicles 7:14 where it says “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. ” Are you God’s people? Then let us humble ourselves and pray and turn back to God, so our land will be healed.

I Joined The Biggest Loser

Our company is doing its own The Biggest Loser contest and I decided to join the contest! Of course you know the reason :D I want to consider this as a   motivation that would help me lose some fats pounds.  Out of the 12 employees, 6 joined the contest (Yes, that how big our company is!!!). The prize will also be coming from us. Every week, we will drop our 50 pesos as our bet contribution for the prize.  The contest will last for nine weeks. The person who will be able to lose the biggest pounds within nine weeks will be the winner.  The winner will be announced just before our company outing on April 9.  No so much rule except that nobody will be allowed to use any drug or medicine for weight lost like orlistat.

weight scalesLast night, Monday,  before we headed home, the six of us dropped by at Mercury Shangrila to have our weighs measured using the electronic machine there (dunno the name :D ). To my amazement,  I gained another 2 kgs from my previous weight :( This means that If I didn’t act now, I will continue to gain more pounds. I am really not after the prize, but I hope that through this contest I will be more determined to watch my diet.

Right now,  I don’t have a special plan yet to lose more  pounds fast. Maybe you can suggest some easy steps. Gym  is not an option nowadays because my hands are full with household chores and with my full-time work.  Aside from gym, all your suggestions are welcome :)

A Goliath In A David’s View

It is now or never. Yes! Finally, I’ve decided to conduct a blog review over a giant in the blogosphere, if you may call it a review :D . You may call it suicidal and ambitious because a nobody on the arena of blogging chose a somebody as her subject on her first ever blog review. You may call it insanity but who cares, nobody cares even the care bears!!! (Sounds familiar? not very original :D ).  Okay, let’s begin!

This is not the first time I landed on this PR 4  site, if I am not mistaken. But on my initial visits – months ago- I found the site very chaotic. Everything is cluttered and I can’t find any post except for the post for the Entredroppers. I even tried to leave a note stating my desire that my site be included in the list of the Entrecard drop list but I am not sure if my message reached the owner. I came back for two or three times more. But since I thought it was just an Entrecard Drop site, I stopped visiting the site.

IAMBURAOT

I noticed a big change on the look and feel of the site during my recent visits via Kaye and Pehpot’s Blogversary Contest’s page. I even thought that the person behind the site is a woman. But the Entredropper page reminded me of its previous colors – black and yellow. While it is true that the theme is quite feminine, I definitely agree that it is better, a lot better, than the last one.

This is the result of a Goliath site on a David’s perspective.

FONTS
The main font used is a kind of font that encourages visitors to stay longer. The font size is big enough not to stress the eyes of the readers plus the size of the first letter for each post adds elegance and authority.

SITE NAVIGATION
The site provides ease of navigation. A visitor can easily jump from one page to another through the top menu but I find it redundant to see the same links on the side bar. Another good point on this site is the site map. A new visitor can easy grasp the entirety of the site through the site map. The site’s owner provides two ways to access the archive;by category and by month and year. Most recent articles and most recent comments were displayed on the homepage. This encourages visitors to read other articles, hence to stay longer on the site. It would be better if the site has “most popular post” section so the visitor can easily know what is the most read article. The search (within the site) form provided in the site is also helpful to the readers to look for previous articles using keywords.

SIDEBARS
The sidebar is very neat. It is not loaded with so much information and advertisements. The content of the side bar changes depending on the page or category of the post being displayed. The owner also provides a convenient way to book mark the site and post’s urls. Statistical information can also be found on the sidebar which gives the reader an idea on the position of the site on the blogosphere.

FEEDS
A good site should always have an email subscription form because this is the fastest way to inform the loyal readers of the new articles. And it is good that the site does not only provide feeds through email subscription but through rss as well.

POSTS
I only read few posts. But based on the articles I’ve read, the author is fluent in English writing. There is spontaneity in every post and the idea is being expressed clearly. Whether it is a self-proclamation, reaction or a simple endorsement, the author can expressed his objective in a creative manner. My fear is that, the author might also be sued by those he called pea-size brained for his blunt and fearless words. So beware, if you are a sensitive type reader, I suggest that you avoid his site :D

The site is a personal site of one who wants to be known as BURAOT , a Filipino colloquial word with negative implications, and contains his views and opinions on politics, love and relationships, nature and environment among many others. You can also find here his sentiments for being sickly. The author of the site provide a special page to introduce himself. If you are curious about him, why not pay him a visit?

The less important things are just left in my mind. A day of journey on I Am Buraot is not enough to give a just review. But nonetheless,  my journey on the site is a worthwhile journey.
