A $100 Prize For The Four Fathers In My Life

This is my official entry to Noel & Levy’s Thanksgiving contest.

June is known to be the month of the fathers. On the 3rd Sunday of the month, we will be celebrating Father’s Day. Since June is for the fathers, if ever I win a $100 prize, I’ll use it to express my gratitude to the four fathers of my life.

My Heavenly Father
Since I love my Father in heaven and I want to honor Him with my substance (Proverbs 3:9), I’ll give back to Him the 10th part. This is the portion He requires from every believer (Malachi 3:10). And because I love His work, I’ll add another 10% as my offering. My Heavenly Father is the source of everything. I wouldn’t have anything unless He gives it to me.

My Spiritual Father – My Pastor
God gave me a Pastor according to His own heart who feed me with knowledge and understanding. This man nourished my spirit through the messages of God he delivered during worship services. If not for this man, I would not grow in my faith and would not continue in the work of the Lord. Because of his great influence in my spiritual growth, I want to show him my gratefulness, by sharing with him a portion of the prize as my love offering for him.

My Biological Father
God did not only give me a spiritual father, but he also provided me a biological father who worked to feed me and nourished my physical body. My father is sick right now. He was diagnosed with high blood sugar, high blood pressure and infections. Though God provided a neighbor who allowed my father to use their glucometer for free, I intend to buy him his own so he can test his blood sugar anytime. I also intend to buy him his own sphygmomanometer so he can monitor his blood pressure. These will be my late Father’s Day gift to him. I’ll just purchase the medical devices in Bambang where their prices are way cheaper than their actual prices at the mall or drug stores.

The Father of My Daughter – My Husband
Though my husband is not telling me directly,I have a hint that he wants to have a new pair of sunglasses. Whenever we go to the mall, he never failed to visit the Men’s Accessories section where the shades are located. I want to buy him one as a gift and to express my gratefulness to him for being a helpful and understanding partner.  He always helps me doing the household chores especially during the times that I can’t leave the front of my computer because of tons of tasks. Though our daughter’s naughtiness is pushing him to his limits, I know that his doing his best to be patient.

So this is where the $100 prize will go, a well-planned and worthy expenses isn’t?

A Goliath In A David’s View

It is now or never. Yes! Finally, I’ve decided to conduct a blog review over a giant in the blogosphere, if you may call it a review :D. You may call it suicidal and ambitious because a nobody on the arena of blogging chose a somebody as her subject on her first ever blog review. You may call it insanity but who cares, nobody cares even the care bears!!! (Sounds familiar? not very original :D).  Okay, let’s begin!

This is not the first time I landed on this PR 4  site, if I am not mistaken. But on my initial visits – months ago- I found the site very chaotic. Everything is cluttered and I can’t find any post except for the post for the Entredroppers. I even tried to leave a note stating my desire that my site be included in the list of the Entrecard drop list but I am not sure if my message reached the owner. I came back for two or three times more. But since I thought it was just an Entrecard Drop site, I stopped visiting the site.

I noticed a big change on the look and feel of the site during my recent visits via Kaye and Pehpot’s Blogversary Contest’s page. I even thought that the person behind the site is a woman. But the Entredropper page reminded me of its previous colors – black and yellow. While it is true that the theme is quite feminine, I definitely agree that it is better, a lot better, than the last one.

This is the result of a Goliath site on a David’s perspective.

The main font used is a kind of font that encourages visitors to stay longer. The font size is big enough not to stress the eyes of the readers plus the size of the first letter for each post adds elegance and authority.

The site provides ease of navigation. A visitor can easily jump from one page to another through the top menu but I find it redundant to see the same links on the side bar. Another good point on this site is the site map. A new visitor can easy grasp the entirety of the site through the site map. The site’s owner provides two ways to access the archive;by category and by month and year. Most recent articles and most recent comments were displayed on the homepage. This encourages visitors to read other articles, hence to stay longer on the site. It would be better if the site has “most popular post” section so the visitor can easily know what is the most read article. The search (within the site) form provided in the site is also helpful to the readers to look for previous articles using keywords.

The sidebar is very neat. It is not loaded with so much information and advertisements. The content of the side bar changes depending on the page or category of the post being displayed. The owner also provides a convenient way to book mark the site and post’s urls. Statistical information can also be found on the sidebar which gives the reader an idea on the position of the site on the blogosphere.

A good site should always have an email subscription form because this is the fastest way to inform the loyal readers of the new articles. And it is good that the site does not only provide feeds through email subscription but through rss as well.

I only read few posts. But based on the articles I’ve read, the author is fluent in English writing. There is spontaneity in every post and the idea is being expressed clearly. Whether it is a self-proclamation, reaction or a simple endorsement, the author can expressed his objective in a creative manner. My fear is that, the author might also be sued by those he called pea-size brained for his blunt and fearless words. So beware, if you are a sensitive type reader, I suggest that you avoid his site :D

The site is a personal site of one who wants to be known as BURAOT , a Filipino colloquial word with negative implications, and contains his views and opinions on politics, love and relationships, nature and environment among many others. You can also find here his sentiments for being sickly. The author of the site provide a special page to introduce himself. If you are curious about him, why not pay him a visit?

The less important things are just left in my mind. A day of journey on I Am Buraot is not enough to give a just review. But nonetheless,  my journey on the site is a worthwhile journey.

Thanksgiving Contest Update

2010 is fast approaching! Four more days and 2009 is already a history. Hmm… this means that you only have four more days to join the Thanksgiving Contest hosted by none other than ME :D

For those who haven’t joined yet, you still have four more days to join. For those who have submitted their entries, I will either post your entry numbers for the draw on January 7 or I will just type in your names multiple times based on the number of your qualified entries. U.T.O.T.M.O.P.I.N.K First Give-A-Way Contest

I came across this give-a-way contest via Yami’s site, Mom Writes For A Cause. And the tasks need to accomplish are not that complicated so I decided to join.

Mrs. Kolca will be giving away the following the prizes for the three blessed winners.

♥First Prize♥
-Pink Camisole by AVON (worn by Reese Witherspoon in the picture)
-AVON Lovely in Pink Eau de Toilette Spray
-AVON Lovely in Pink Purse Concentrate
-3 months 125 X 125 ad space

♥Second Prize♥
-Photo Frame Alarm Clock
-Pantene 3-Minute Miracle (6 pcs)
-2 months 125 X 125 ad space

♥Third Prize♥
-Sterling Silver Hoop Earrings
-Pond’s Whitening Cream
-Pond’s Facial Wash
-1 month 125 X 125 ad space

To join the contest, the participant needs to answer any of the following questions.

a. Is there anything pink within 10 feet of you? If yes, write about it.
b. Who is your favorite Hollywood actress or supermodel younger than 30?
c. Choose one. Shoes? Bags? Clothes? Or make-up?
d. What is your favorite sleepwear?
e. I joined this contest because_______________.

What question do you think will I answer? Come on! Make a wild guess :D. Yeah right! I will be posting about the pinks within my 10 feet range. Why do you think I chose this question? Nah! Pink is not my favorite color.   But this is the color I used to love before. Well, my preference already changed. But I still find this color cute and adorable for little princess like my daughter. So I indulge her to love this color, at least for the time being ;)

The reason why I chose the first option is because the contest is all about pink and I believe the hostess is a pink fanatic. The prizes to be given away are proofs that Mrs. Kolca is in love with pink.

Pink is the most attractive color for my daughter. If you will dig my previous posts, you will learn that for my daughter, pink is synonymous with pretty and beautiful. All other colors are simply not so good for her. If I will take a shot of  all her pink things, my disk space would probably exceed the limit. So I only took the pictures of the first items which my eyes immediately captured.
