I just want to know how will my daughter look like in a Tiny Tiger costume. Most mommies enjoy seeing their kids in costumes. Well, I’m not exempted. I find the kids in costumes so cute and adorable. I attempted to buy my daughter an animal costume when she was still a baby. But our budget that time did not allow us to buy one until I totally forgot the idea. Now that I remember it, the budget is tight again. We have more important priorities like my father’s medicines, my parents household budget, my daughter’s school needs and the piling up bills. For the meantime, I will just add it to my wish list and enjoy this photo

I am amazed how a child’s brain memorize so fast. And I took it as an advantage to teach my daughter simple memory verses. If she learns to memorize verse at a very young age, she will still be eager to memorize verses when she’s old.

She’s not drunk nor mad. That’s just how she recites the verses – as if she’s reprimanding someone, LOL. Also, ignore the background. That’s my sister-in-law sleeping in our room.

Today’d theme for Mommy Moments is about Cars and Kids.

This is my daughter’s official car errr bike! Ever since we bought this bike a year ago, it has been her service when we go to church or any nearby place. My daughter is not fond of walking, in other words, she’s lazy! She always want to be carried. This was also the reason why we bought this bike, for convenience. But this bike already retire. I will tell the story on another post.

She’s about to attend a wedding in our church

So where is the car? You are impatient, lol! We don’t have a car, yet LOL. But I don’t see it as lack on our part. Although, I must be honest that having a car gives so much convenience. We already prayed for it and I believe God has prepared it. He is just waiting for the perfect time to give it to us. But while waiting for God’s answer to our prayer, He sent a part time car. What I mean is, He gave us a friend who shares her car with Ezka. Since the time my daughter started attending church, ten days after she was born, her Ninang Myra almost always takes her home. Daughter gets too familiar with her Ninang’s car to the extent that my she will leave us – me and my husband – just be able to get a ride on that car.

She’s trying to open the door. This is right after the midweek service.

My daughter feels at home on her Ninang Myra’s car. Every after worship service, her poor Ninang Myra is obliged to take her home. During the times that her Ninang can’t bring her home, she would cry hysterically as if the car is carnapped. That’s how my daughter love this car. This also the car we used as bridal car when my husband and I get married.

I really took time last Wednesday to take my daughter’s pictures on her Ninang’s car for two reasons. First, for Mommy Moment entry and second, as souvenir. Sooner or later, her Ninang Myra might sell the car and get a new one. At least I have something to share with her when she grows up.

Using my old mouse for long period of time caused pains on my wrist. It has been damaged by frequent fall from my computer table. I just can’t replace it because we don’t have an extra budget to buy a new one. My husband keep on reminding me to allot some money for a new mouse but it seems that I can’t even save a few hundreds from our income.

But last weekend, I can no longer take more pains and I don’t also want my carpal tunnel syndrome to comes back. My pointing device has already its own mind. It would click on the wrong button or link and its cursor was moving by itself as if there is another hand maneuvering it. So before my sanity leaves me, I decided to buy a new one. And blessing because included in our last payday was the payment for the overtime work I rendered last holiday. God’s blessings is always on time. He knew that I badly need a new mouse and He provided a means for me to have one.

After teaching in our church Bible school last Friday, hubby, ska and I went to SM North Cyber Zone to buy a new pointing device. It was my husband idea to buy a wireless one to test if it is better than the usual mouse. Since the price of a wireless mouse alone and the price of the keyboard and mouse package has only few hundreds difference, we chose for the package. We checked the price first at Dynamic PC because based on our experience, Dynamic PC usually offers the cheapest price. Then we check the prices of other stores. Dynamic PC still has the lowest price for Logitech EX100. This is the cheapest wireless keyboard and mouse. We only got it for Php 1,450 compared to the other stores price of 1,700+. Since their stock was still in transit and would arrive at around 8:30, we decided to treat our daughter to Jollibee, her favorite fast food establishment.

Here are the funny faces of my daughter while waiting for her meal. Probably she’s excited and impatient at the same time to have her order. She just threw it on her wacky poses! The other girl in the picture is her Ate Apol, her closest friend in our church.

As I shared with you in this post, my daughter will play the role of a flower girl. The wedding was held last Monday, October 30, 2009 at the clubhouse of Ocean Pacific Place Village in Dasmariñas Cavite. From Manila to the venue, took us around two hours in moderate driving and without traffic.

The wedding went well except that my daughter no longer want to walk. She wanted to be held on my arms and almost fell asleep on my shoulder even before the wedding started. I couldn’t blame her because she was probably tired when the wedding finally started. The 3:00 pm schedule actually started at 5:00 pm. When the baskets for the flower girls were distributed, she finally agreed to stand on her own. I prayed that she at least finish the march before finally calling it a day. She marched but didn’t let go of my hand So I marched with her. I have never been a flower girl in my entire life. Maybe my daughter guessed that so she allowed me to experience it as well. LOL!

Anyway, we tried to take some pictures of her before the wedding though she do not want to face the camera.

My daughter just turned 2 years and five month last October 29. It just entered into my mind to put into writing her accomplishments ( probably out of nothing to write ). I do not consider my daughter a gifted child or anything extra ordinary. I just allow her to learn things on her own pace. No hurry. I just let her enjoy her childhood because she cannot return on that stage anymore.

At 29 months here are the things that she already knows and do

She can sing her ABC correctly and completely.

She can count 1 to 10 in English and Spanish ( courtesy of Dora), sometimes she can extend up to 20.

She can identify basic colors like Red, Orange, Green, Black, White, Brown, Red and of course Pink, her favorite color. She usually interchange Yellow and Blue.

She can identify the parts of her body. She can identify the basic part of the body when she was still one year old. We just add more parts from time to time.

She can sing (but with not so clear words) some kids songs like Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, The B-I-B-L-E, This Little Light of Mine, God is Good to Me and God is so Good. She can also sing “Nagpupuri”, Filipino version of How Great Thou Art, which marks the end of our worship service in the church.

She can identify different animals, those that are in her poster and animals that she often see.

She can can also identify basic fruits like banana, apple, grape, orange, mango, strawberry, cherry, watermelon, and pine apple.

She knows when to say Amen and she can pray for her milk and food when she is being lead. She also kneels down with us when we pray on our evening devotion but not for long (impatient eh)

She knows and practice saying polite words like thank you, sorry, excuse me, please and she answers with po.

She can already informed us when she need to pee or defecate. This is the one that really benefits me allot hahaha….

These are the things that we still need to work out.

To train her drink her milk on glass instead on bottle

Stop her from thumb sucking

Her endurance to walk for longer distance. My daughter is too lazy to walk! Whenever we go out for a walk, she would only walk for short distance. She always wants to be carried…

And in all these things, I cease not to thank my God for blessing me a daughter who does not stop amazing us with her little things. I do not also stop praying for wisdom that I may able to raise and mold my daughter to be the woman that God wants her to be.

Today is Friday and its Mommy Moments time once again! This week’s theme is “Hat Day“

Because my daugher was born with very thin hair (or should I say no hair at all? LOL!) and very sensitive with just even a drop of rain (as I mentioned here), a hat is already considered part of her outfit. For her, everyday is a hat day.

Here are some of my daughter’s pictures in hat!

When my daughter reached two years of age, I noticed that she started to have her way to do things. She started to command us and do things for her. And when we tried to teach her, she would insist what she knows. My husband would sometimes complain, she does not want to be taught! Even her playmates were her victims. She will only lend the toys that she wants to share. If her playmates touch other toys, she will grab the toys and insist her chosen toys. What a dictator, isn’t? And if we didn’t do things her way, she will use her ultimate weapon, her tears! She would cry as if she’s the most pitiful being in the whole world! Sometimes, I can’t help it but to go insane

Then I remember the stages of child development I learned from my Psychology subject way back in college. Every child will pass through the egocentric stage in which the child perceives that the universe only revolves around him/her. This makes them feel superior over other people around them. This bossy behavior is very common among two and three year old toddlers but we should not allow our kids to indulge in this behavior for too long, otherwise we will be sorry in the future.

In the case of my daughter, if it possible, I allow her to have a choice over things. Like for example on Sundays, I allow her to choose what dress to wear and what shoes to put on. When it comes to her snack, I ask her what juice she likes to drink and I give her at least two choices of food to eat. Even when she defecate, we ask her who she wants to wash her ass (very seldom I didn’t get the honor :-/). And if she asks for something, we always wait for her to say please and remind her to say thank you when she gets her want. For tougher situations, like she’s doing something not right and after several warnings, she is still doing it, I will ask her to choose between a belt or she will stop her wrong doings. Not that I am frightening her but I want her to realize that disobedience always resulted to punishment and obedience yield blessings.

Here are some other tips to conquer this stage of bossiness. (source: whattoexpect.com – bossiness)

Provide enough attention. Your child’s demands may be a plea for more time together.

Give back some control. Offering your child choices (“Do you want to wear the pink skirt or purple one?”) makes her feel empowered.

Boost her self-esteem. Ask for her help with simple chores like putting laundry in the hamper or tearing lettuce for a salad, and offer lots of praise when the task is complete. That way, she’ll feel important without having to order someone else around.

Reinforce social skills. Make “please” a part of your child’s vocabulary, teach her to take turns, and encourage empathy for others (“How would you feel if Susie grabbed your doll?”).

Lead by example. Are you constantly bossing your child around or making her hurry up or wait? Treat your toddler the way you’d like to be treated, Mom.

Don’t be a doormat. When her demands and/or tone of voice are out of bounds, calmly let her know it and do not oblige.

Are you on the same situation? How do you hande your child’s bossiness?

My daughter just turned 27 months ( 2 years old and 3 months) last August 29 and I am happy that at her age, she can already say Please, Thank You, Sorry and Po. Funny because sometimes even if she’s the one hurt, she will still say sorry. We are also fond of her when she answered Po whenever we call her name. Sometimes she also say Excuse Me when she wants to pass by and someone is in her way. Although, she can’t utter the words clearly yet, the sounds “shoos me” will made you realize that she is saying excuse me.

It is really nice that she learned these word early. These maybe simple words but later on her life, these words will somehow define her character. And whether I like it not, people will judge her base on how appropriately she use these words. I taught her these words because I believe that the earlier she learned these word the less she will forget them when she grows old. And I am praying that she will grow up with an attitude and character that is pleasing to God.
