First Day @ McDonald’s Kiddie Crew Workshop

This morning was Sciezka’s official first day as a Kiddie Crew at McDonald’s BQ Tagbilaran branch.  My McDonald's Kiddie CrewBased on her stories, she had fun but a little bit worried about the names of her batchmates. According to her, they need to memorize at least ten names of her batchmates. She mentioned some names but didn’t reach ten.  She got the house – rules memorized and enumerated them to me. I asked her what house – rules meant? She explained that these were the rules they need to obey when they were in the store. She told me that she was very obedient to “Ate Zha Zha”, the marketing coordinator, because she was afraid that she would be placed inside the freezer. That was the punishment chosen by the other kids for disobedience.

She was the youngest among her batchmates. She was  six years old and her batchmates were nine and up. She told us that one of the kids was already a fourth year. I thought she was telling us that one of her batchmates was already in high school. But when I clarified it with her, she explained that the kid was doing the Kiddie Crew for four years already.

She shared with me that one of the girls in her batch was rude but still she befriended her because one of the house rules was to be friendly.  So I asked her why she thought the girl was rude. She explained that the girl asked her name so she told her her name. But when she returned the question, the girl ignore her and didn’t answer her question. My daughter added, “sinapot bigla”. So she asked the girl why she does not want her to be her friend and reminded the girl about the house rule. Medyo may kakulitan ang anak ko eh :D. The girl smiled at her.

As for her uniform,  went to the store last night to ask if she can wear skirt. She was allowed to wear the jogging pants instead of denim jeans but not a skirt. This was for her safety according to the general manager of the store. I asked her if “Ate Zha Zha” or anyone asked her about her uniform. Only one girl asked her why she was not wearing denim pants. She answered the girl that she was not allowed to wear pants beside she has no pants. She told me that the coordinators knew she was a Baptist.

My concern with the uniform was solved. One more remaining concern, the schedule of the graduation which falls on a Sunday. I am praying that it will be moved to another day. But if God will not permit it, then daughter will not attend the graduation. At least she experienced the 5 – day workshop.

McDonald’s Kiddie Crew WorkShop 2014

I stepped out this morning to attend the orientation for the McDonald’s Kiddie Crew Workshop. Last February, I registered my daughter to participate in this summer activity. Initially, I chose the 2nd Batch PM (TTH, 2 – 4 PM) schedule but I have to move it to the 1st Batch AM (MW 8 – 10AM) schedule to resolve the conflict with her summer art class schedule. McDonald's Kiddie CrewThe workshop will start on Monday. Daughter’s schedule will be Monday and Wednesday 8 to 10 A.M. We received the shirt, bull cap and bag this morning. The kiddie crews should wear their uniform during the workshop. My problem is the lower garment which needs to be denim pants. My daughter has no denim pants and we don’t want her to be accustomed wearing pants. The marketing manager, Ms. Zha Zha, who gave the orientation told us this morning, that they don’t allow the kids to wear skirt during their duties :(

It was also discussed this morning that additional 2 days will be added to the 5-day workshop. The two days extension will be used for the graduation practice which is set on May 11, a Sunday. Another concern of mine because we could not go out on Sundays it is for the Lord. So I have to start praying that this schedule will be move to another day except for Sunday.

Other than the pants and the graduation schedule, I think Daughter will have a great time during the Workshop. The kids with their parents had a store tour this morning. Unfortunately, I didn’t bring my daughter because I thought the orientation is more on for the parents. I also asked the staff who assisted me during the registration if the kids must be brought during the orientation but she told me that it is okay not to bring since it will only be a uniform distribution. So I didn’t bother to tag my daughter. But anyways, I think there will be another tour on their first day.

The registration fee was only Php 595. This fee includes the T-shirt, bull cap, ID and the snack of the kiddie crew which can be either spaghetti or burger McDo.  The fee also includes the kits which the children will use during their workshops.  The fee is very worth it, isn’t?

Daughter will have a very busy summer. I hope her health will not intrude and ruin her summer fun activities.

How about you? Did you also enroll your kiddos to any summer workshop or class?

I used to love to wear dresses even mini dresses but not the seductive type. That was before. When my body built was still small. I have given away all my dresses. Now, I could not find dresses that would fit my frame. Most dresses are just good for slim type built. And if ever I find a dress that fits my tastes, my pocket is the one in disagreement. It is really a challenge to find clothing for horizontally challenge like me.

Turned Two

Disclosure: This is a very late post!!!

This little gal who loves to make funny faces just turned two last February 27.
Jyma EzrielaWe didn’t have the usual kids’ party celebration. DH and I agreed (seconded by her Ate Jyma) that instead of cooking and preparing for a kids’ party,  we would just go out and swim somewhere. Who wouldn’t embrace this idea? Definitely not me, haha! It would save me from the preparing food, place and activities for the celebration. We don’t also need to spend so much for the celebration. Most of all, the little birthday girl, will be one who will enjoy most on her special day.

We chose Panglao Island Nature Resort and Spa to celebrate the Li’l Girl’s birthday. We left the church where we live a little pass 8 o’clock in the morning and before the 9 A.M. we were already in the resort. We only avail the day tour because we can’t afford even their cheapest cottage.

The entrance fee was only Php 550.00 per head for adult and Php 450.00 for children ages between 2 and 12. The Li’l Girl was still free. Php 400 of the Php 550 and Php 300 of the Php 450 were consumable for food and beverages. Only Php 150 was spared for the use of facilities and pools. We pay additional Php 300 for the kayak. So all in all we only spent Php 1,850.00 for the day tour. Good enough, right?

As I observed, the Li’l Girl had fun

Ellabut much more her Ate Jyma. Both could not be stopped from playing in the pool. My only regret was I did not bring someone who can act as our photographer and helper while I joined the Husband and the Daughters in the pool. I was their photographer cum assistant haha!

When the sun was so hot, I take out the Li’l girl from the pool while Husband and Ate decided to try the kayak.  The sun was very hot that Husband and my elder daughter could not stay on the sea for so long. I think in less than 15 minutes they returned to the shore.

KayakSince the heat of the sun was intolerable, we decided to take a rest and have our lunch ordered.  Meals must be ordered 20 – 30 minutes ahead for the preparations.  We didn’t wait for so long and the orders arrived.

We had a simple meal. Husband ordered a chicken meal (I forgot the exact name) and tacos for me. We also ordered a kiddie meal for the kids.

After eating, we stroll around. We learned that the whole area was 14 hectares but the large part of it was still undeveloped.

The PlaceAfter few minutes of strolling, we return to the pool and though it was just 2pm, my older could not be refrained from going back to the pool. Being alone didn’t hinder her to splash and swish on the pool So while she was enjoying the pool by herself, we ordered a halo – halo for snack. The Li’l Girl enjoyed it as mush as I did :D After finishing the halo – halo, Husband and the Li’l Girl joined our elder princess on the pool. The rest of the afternoon was spent on the pool.

Every birthday must be celebrated. I learned it from one of the blogs I frequently visit. But it needs not to be extravagant or costly. As long as the day is spent on a special way, I believe it is still called celebration. And this is how we celebrated the special day of our Li’l Girl.

Table Skirting

Whenever there was an event in our mother church in Project 8, I was always amazed how a piece of white fabric could turn into elegant table skirt of the tables.  I learned that one of the Bible studenta was the one doing the table skirting. I never had the chance to see him actually did the skirting but I had the chance to remove the table skirts. I was surprised to discover that only pins and thumbtacks fixed the table skirt pleats. I could not imagine the time and effort exerted to do the table skirting. Right there, I knew that I could never do this kind of table skirting.

The table skirting we had in church was on old way. Nowadays there were stores selling ready – made table skirts. You’ll have to wear them on the table. Easy peasy right? If ever I’ll be given a task to skirt a table, I think I’ll just find cheap table skirting rather than doing it by myself.
