[Sticky Post]Your Prayer is Mo$t Needed

I felt very sad when I learned that Ms. Sarah of His Unfailing Love had a miscarriage.  The lost cause her so much pain but she keeps her faith and continue to trust His creator. Her unwavering faith is inspirational. Nevertheless, a short prayer for her quick  recovery, both emotionally and physically, will do her better. Let us also include her husband, Jonathan and their two kids in our prayer.

Sarah is very honest in sharing their needs and how God provided them just in time. Isn’t great if God will also use us as a channel of blessing to them?  For this reason,   I plead on kind hearts that we help her financially on her myoma operation. She needs around $1700 for the operation. You may directly send her your help through her  paypal account which is sarah26.aj@gmail.com.  Any amount you share will be of great help.

I really hope that God will touch your heart to help Sarah and her family raise the money for her operation. Remember, it is more blessed to give than to receive. May God return your kindness hundred folds :)

Ang Pambubulabog Sa Mundo Ni Kulapo

Have you seen a PR10 site? Well if not, it is time to visit Anak ni Kulapo. Surprised? We have the same reaction. How come Google is so generous with this site??? But don’t be deceived! The page rank 10 is just a hoax and just there to shock amaze first time visitors like me. If you will look closer, it is an edited image for page rank 1. But that is still not the real PR of the site and I am not also there to investigate about the site’s PR. If you got curious, go and find it yourself ;) .

Anak ni Kulapo is a humorous site maintained by man who what wants to be known as BURAOT.  The site is not for General Patronage as it contains words not suitable for young audiences. The author uses Filipino colloquial words (pabalbal o mga salitang kanto) to entertain his audiences. The author recognize that his articles are not for very young audiences that is why he put a warning (BABALA) on the top left side, a place which any visitor can easily see.

The author tackles his subject in a light way but  a reader  can agree with me that there is some deep sense on his posts. Just like Ang Alamat ng Sinkong Kulot. This article can make the  readers laugh. But behind the laugh, the reader can also relate about the increasing prices of commodities that even dying becomes very expensive.  The article also allows a little older readers to reminisce his/her childhood. Lastly, it also shares about the value of saving money as early as possible.

BURAOT is generous with linkbacks as a matter of fact, frequent visitors and commenters have the chance to be included in the Alagad ni Kulapo page. So if you want a juicy link back, just visit the site and leave a comment.

As for the look and feel of the site, almost everything is there in their proper places. Although the sidebar is full of widgets,  they are still neatly arrange. The site is equipped with most common widgets/plug-ins like search, recent posts, categories, rss feeds subscription, archives, sitemap and etc.,  If there is one thing in the look and feel that I don’t like, it is the font size used for I am not fond of small fonts. My eyes get easily tired when reading an article with too small font.

For the nice to have widgets/plugins, I suggest that the  most popular posts be added and  related post link (link within). These features will encourage the readers to stay longer. And since BURAOT is religiously answering his commenters,  it would be better if he can apply a Reply plug-in for the comments. This will notify the original commenter of his answer  and will encourage further  discussion for other commenters.

The site is for non-conservative readers. If you don’t get easily scandalized by pictures like this, and foul words like mga ^&*@ng inonsente and the likes, and you like humorous post with double meaning words, then you go and pay the site a visit. But if you happen to be a Maria Clara type, the site might just offend you so just visit another site.

A Glimpse of Mom Conversations

If the term minimalist is applicable to blog, then Mom Conversations have it. This is the first time I visited the site and I am doing this review to support K and Peh’s ongoing contest. And again, all that is written below are purely my opinion based on my observation. I intend no harm nor offense to the owner or anyone.

Mom Conversation is one of the neatest blogs I’ve visited, from header, content, sidebar to footer.  In the header, you can only find one spanish word “BUENO” which when I tried to dig the meaning, means Good. Well, the site is Good indeed. The site focus only on four categories namely; Baby, Featured, Health and Fitness, Hot Topics, Parenting and Pregnancy. That organized! Seeing her categories made me wish to have my categories that few.  Aside from the sidebar, the categories are also the menus. Hmm… quite redundant but does not  give any harm on the overall look of the site.

The sidebar has only three sections – the least sectioned sidebar I have ever seen – Categories, Mom Conversation which also the Hot Topics and the Recent Posts.  The site has no site map , archive section nor related post links. Hence, limiting the readers easy-access to those that are only listed on the  Hot Topics and Recent Post. The only fancy thing that is in the sidebar is when you hover the links. The color of the text changes that gives a moving visual effect. When you hover on the links on the sidebar, an alt tag  containing a summary of the article will be displayed. This I believe encourages the visitor to read the entire article.

The About Page and the link of Umma, the author’s page, gives me a hint that the site is newly created and it not yet fully done.  I also checked the incoming links (well, out of curiosity) of the site to know who linked the site  because I didn’t see a blog roll and the result confirmed my initial suspicion that the site is new.

Nonetheless, the site has a good potential to boom. The articles are really interesting and the way they are written gives me an impression that Umma is well-versed in English command.  Her article about How To Treat Hemorrhoids is very informative and made to ask myself if Umma is somehow related to medicine.

The font family, sizes, weight also get my thumbs up! The size of the font used for each font does not tire the eyes even for long-time reading. Proper font weight is also implemented for emphasis.

Since the site is not yet fully-made, here are the things that I think are nice to have.

  • Feed subscription via email
  • an archive or site map
  • most popular post

As a whole, the site is recommendable. So please visit the site when you have time.

A Colorful Dinner

I literally had a colorful dinner; green, red, orange and a shade of yellow because I had a veggie salad for dinner. Daughter even eat few pieces with me :)

VeggieSaladplease forgive the resolution of the images for they were only taken using a phone camera

As  I mentioned on my previous post, I joined our company’s biggest loser contest and badly needed to shred ample amount of fats off my body. Since Monday, I tried my best not to eat rice during dinner.  I also tried my best to drink lots of water which helps me feel full everytime.  I will try to follow Mommy Sam’s advice to limit the intake of rice. I also learned that cold water speed ups metabolism especially if taken in the morning.

I do not intend to win on the contest but I intend to lose significant kilos for my own good.

I Joined The Biggest Loser

Our company is doing its own The Biggest Loser contest and I decided to join the contest! Of course you know the reason :D I want to consider this as a   motivation that would help me lose some fats pounds.  Out of the 12 employees, 6 joined the contest (Yes, that how big our company is!!!). The prize will also be coming from us. Every week, we will drop our 50 pesos as our bet contribution for the prize.  The contest will last for nine weeks. The person who will be able to lose the biggest pounds within nine weeks will be the winner.  The winner will be announced just before our company outing on April 9.  No so much rule except that nobody will be allowed to use any drug or medicine for weight lost like orlistat.

weight scalesLast night, Monday,  before we headed home, the six of us dropped by at Mercury Shangrila to have our weighs measured using the electronic machine there (dunno the name :D ). To my amazement,  I gained another 2 kgs from my previous weight :( This means that If I didn’t act now, I will continue to gain more pounds. I am really not after the prize, but I hope that through this contest I will be more determined to watch my diet.

Right now,  I don’t have a special plan yet to lose more  pounds fast. Maybe you can suggest some easy steps. Gym  is not an option nowadays because my hands are full with household chores and with my full-time work.  Aside from gym, all your suggestions are welcome :)
